Lovely Uno. I admire quilters a lot. I don't have the eye or skills for it. My sister used to do it but she doesn't make the time now.

This is what I was able to make, I still wanted the mice to look more like they were connected, like going through a maze so I managed a narrow border likethis, and then I am hoping to do a wider border with the green.

I am having a lot of fun with this, first quilting project I have ever attempted on my own. I loved the part of putting the different colors together and now thanks to the extra fabrics I got to go out and get, I have lots more ideas swirling around for more quilting! Thanks guys Laughing

Miry, I see you are a bold and confident user of colour! Good for you! That is your first attempt? I don't believe you. You've done this before. That looks awesome!

Yes, Blackdove, it would seem we've drawn another one into our web of cotton, batting and threads. COME TO THE DARK SIDE...where all the best cotton is!

THat is amazing! I'm glad you had fun and were inspired. Please post any and all creations.

truly it is my first solo quilting Uno!....I have done bits and pieces of baby quilts the last two years with the local women's club, but they were already laid out and I just had minor roles in doing a bit of sewing and binding with them.
My dream is to make a quilt for each of my kids to take with them when they leave home, and the first will graduate next year so I have to get busy but somehow never quite felt bold enough to start.
This was such an easy pattern though I think anyone could do it, I was careful to square everything every time and I did end up with smaller squares than I was supposed to have but at least they are square!
I am a really bad carpenter and hate to measure but I tried to be careful this time...I think HR can attest to my scary carpentry skills but maybe quilting will improve my carpentry!
this seemed like such a nice small safe project to tackle first and so I got brave...!

Here is my piece with the border done, now I have to let it sit until I find some quilt batting and get some more of the pink fabric to back it with...so I am starting to eye up this combo,

using the flowered fabric Uno also sent me!
I think I need some moss green fabric to go with this, I want to do another rail fence pattern...thinking the wood rails of the fence, flowers growing beside it and the grass growing underneath...this is Fun! bounce

Take a bow, Miry, that is some awesome work! You are a bold quilter, I can see that! I think maybe you have been bitten by the bug, like Blackdove says. Some people work in paints, some in clay, some in fabric. Maybe you have found your medium. Good for you, you should feel very impressed with yourself. Thanks for the pics and keep us posted with your next project.

Guys, I want to apologize for taking so long on this, but honestly, I’m not sure I ever want to showcase what I’ve been “creating”… yes, it’s that bad, what snickering hubby calls my frankencraft. Sorry blackdove. Embarassed I feel like your pretty fabric has been wasted on me. Sad I suck that much.

Oh Flicker, don't be silly, you didn't waste anything! Do you think its better to have it sit in the back of my closet for another 10 years?! NO!! I am sure you are just being hard on yourself. Goodness, you should see some of the disasters I have created. Ask any quilter/crafter about their 'flops'... Laughing

But seriously, I am sure its just fine. We are our own worst critics!!

Come on Flicker Chick,we have all made uglies. I have been quilting for 30 years and I still have projects that I drop off at the thrift store, after picking my label off so no one in the world knows I made it! This is high risk craft, not for the sissies. Frankencraft!? BAD husband! Hit him with a rolled up newspaper.

Don't be shy...the only way to learn is to cut and sew! Remember that my own project for this swap was a disaster. I sewed all my points off! I should know better by now but nooo, me thinking I can just 'wing it' with patterns. Ha! You are in good company. Don't be shy.
