I was just wondering, does the amount of light in or on the incubatoe affect the hatching time/rate/etc of a hatch. I have my bator in the most co9nsistent place for temps. However, it provides little light in there. I have noticed that when I turn on my flash light to get a better look inside they move so much more. If an egg was bearly moving it would rock hard, if a pipped chick was quiet it would chirp loudly. Has anyone else ever noticed this?

I don't think it does, the chicks are just naturally going to make a noise or try and move when you are around. That is why it is so hard to not take them out too early, they come to the window and look at you, and they are so cute and you just want to hold one, oh oh rambling, sorry.
My incubator is in the basement and quite dark.

Interesting question. We've only done a couple hatches but I also noticed when you turn lights on they peep more and seem more active in shell but so far all our chicks actually hatched at night. I'm interested in what others have found
