Well I haven't had much luck this year incubating, but today I came in from doing chores and found my brinsea had been knocked off the shelf onto the floor. It was full and going into lock down on Sunday. The cat played a role in this I am certain, but the fault was mine for not making sure the shelf it was on was properly balanced, and secured.
All those broken eggs with well developed chicks in them was very hard to clean up. I washed the few eggs that seemed unbroken and put them back in the incubator but I don't hold out much hope for them.
Anyway feeling discouraged and angry I decided to let my chantecler hen that has been broody for the last two days have a go at incubating the eggs I had waiting to go in.
I put her in her own compartment and put thirteen eggs under her. She can't do worse than me, wish me luck. I guess I should say wish her luck.
