Thanks to all of you for your well wishes. I have to keep this fairly short as first off these shingles are the worst, very painful but they are having great success with the clot and i dont't know if it's possible to have a head ache from too much pain management but I think I have one. I keep telling myself things will be better in a few days but I have such a huge area of shingles, funny I don't feel like I have streess in my life but who knows. Anyway hope to be home soon, can't wait as there is nothing better than your own bed(unless you have a lumpy mattress- I have memory foam and how I miss it!!) Sorry wandered off there for a minute anyway will stay in touch

P.S Farmchiq -I will be contacting you once I get back home.

Heather

Oh Heather! Wishing you a very speedy recovery and that the pain goes away! Loosing a long post on top of everything would make it so much worse somehow.

I hope there are friends and neighbours that can help you at home. Knowing that that part is taken care of is SO important. I wish I lived close enought to help, it would be my pleasure to care for your birds or your beautiful yard.

Heather, you said that you didn't think you were stressed. I think that you said the thing about stress because I mentioned that shingles is usually stress related. What I meant was, should clarify, that when we are under stress, be that any kind of stress, and it comes in many forms, that can lower our immune system. That is when shingles manifest its ugly head. The shingles virus is the latent chicken pox virus, that when one has had chicken pox, that virus remains dormant in the spine. Weird eh? My need for information has learn-ed me this. They are the same virus, manifest in different ways. Some will never get shingles. Some will get shingles over and over, or have the virus active for a long time, sigh, could never wish that on anyone, not even someone that I disliked intensely, it is the most painful thing, as this is active in the nerve bands, yes, nerve bands, and those are all over the body. I think shingles in the legs would be the worse, where is your outbreak on your body? Just curious, you don't have to say if you don't want to, no offense, just kind of nosey sometimes I guess. Stress. Right. You have been under stress, remember, you were sick this winter? That is stress, that lowered your immune system. You have had troubles with you knee, needing that replacement, that is huge stress. You have done incredible amounts of travelling, all over this country of ours, to poultry shows, you know you don't travel well, don't you think this is stressful for you, well, I know it is. You put all stresses together and they can be overwhelming for the body, the immune system is compromised -- you got shingles -- related to stress overload and lowered immunity. Think about things that you have been doing, you been an overly busy gal, and travellin' ain't easy...Now don't take anything I say as gospel, just stuff I have studied and learned. When I got shingles, so horribly, and in so much pain, I wanted to know all about it, and tried to learn as stuff, which I did, that is me. My dear Heather, we are all thinking about you and wishing you well. You will be well again, and back home, with all your critters making you smile. Hope you have a restful night, and wishes for a wonderful and gainful day today, CynthiaM.

Unreal Heather. Sorry to hear about your conditions. Man oh man you sure now how to test your body to see what it can handle. You are one tough bird. Hang in there and I hope you have a fast recovery. Take care and keep us updated.

Ah Heather. All the best from Ontario. Shingles are the pits. I wish you a very speedy recovery, and a quick discharge from the hospital.

Sandy

Hello Everyone
I am Home, Home, Home, one forgets how nice one's home and things are and I am at this moment sitting warmed up in my favortite blankie, what a TiT, I am eh.

Anyway things are better as I can now breathe much better, like normal and while the shingles are not a good thing and yes they hurt mightly esp. to be able to bring strapping girl like me down. The anti-virals are taking hold and the blood thinners are doing their work.

Cindi my friend you are such a curoiusity seeker and keep it up as knowing is knowledge, you and I are very much alike that way. I could not wait to talk to my doctor about about the stuff I goggled about shingles. I had them once before I believe I said but it was at a point when I have having chemo about the 4 th round I think and at that point I remember the pain was unbearable but for the most part that part of my life was so painfulled it was just another thing I wanted to forget. This time I will not forget!!!! and you can bet my chicken house on that. Actually my shingles are along my left side going from back to about i/2 way around. I know I say am not stressed but I do live a busy life, which I enjoy I am blessed not to have too work and have a great life partner, I can't ask for more.

Rico Thank you and my best again to Casey as I think I did talk to him on Saturday maybe. And perhaps soon someone will cut us all a break health wise . But get up brush ones self off and soldier on as we all do.

Spring has for the most part sprung here and my snow drops have been out for quite awhile now and my hands are tingling at the thought of being able to sink them into some soil,(hopefully not finding any cat treasures) but for now I will have to be content playing with my new baby chicks and one crazy standard poople puppy who in her glee to have me home tore up one of the ultra compressed neck travel things. We had nooooooo idea how much of that white stringy foamy fluff stuff they can put in one of those things. We could not see our area rug at all. But we still love her.

Anyway hope to be totally chirper in a couple of days and thanks to all for the caring well wishes and thanks for the offers of help(will be talking to you soon)

Heather
