Heather, you said that you didn't think you were stressed. I think that you said the thing about stress because I mentioned that shingles is usually stress related. What I meant was, should clarify, that when we are under stress, be that any kind of stress, and it comes in many forms, that can lower our immune system. That is when shingles manifest its ugly head. The shingles virus is the latent chicken pox virus, that when one has had chicken pox, that virus remains dormant in the spine. Weird eh? My need for information has learn-ed me this. They are the same virus, manifest in different ways. Some will never get shingles. Some will get shingles over and over, or have the virus active for a long time, sigh, could never wish that on anyone, not even someone that I disliked intensely, it is the most painful thing, as this is active in the nerve bands, yes, nerve bands, and those are all over the body. I think shingles in the legs would be the worse, where is your outbreak on your body? Just curious, you don't have to say if you don't want to, no offense, just kind of nosey sometimes I guess. Stress. Right. You have been under stress, remember, you were sick this winter? That is stress, that lowered your immune system. You have had troubles with you knee, needing that replacement, that is huge stress. You have done incredible amounts of travelling, all over this country of ours, to poultry shows, you know you don't travel well, don't you think this is stressful for you, well, I know it is. You put all stresses together and they can be overwhelming for the body, the immune system is compromised -- you got shingles -- related to stress overload and lowered immunity. Think about things that you have been doing, you been an overly busy gal, and travellin' ain't easy...Now don't take anything I say as gospel, just stuff I have studied and learned. When I got shingles, so horribly, and in so much pain, I wanted to know all about it, and tried to learn as stuff, which I did, that is me. My dear Heather, we are all thinking about you and wishing you well. You will be well again, and back home, with all your critters making you smile. Hope you have a restful night, and wishes for a wonderful and gainful day today, CynthiaM.
