What a shame about all those chicks. I guess they are just have been treated as a commodity all the way along. Mcmurrays will replace them and they are just cargo to the lady in the pickup truck. It sounds like they could use a word at that Post office site as that is not acceptable with live animals.

That is is exciting you have eggs coming from Georgia, I can't believe there are some directly from Spain down there, that is great. I think right now the ones in the USA are technically closer related than the Canadian ones now as I believe there was only one source for the US EOs, not me!

What colours so they have from Spain? What are you getting? I know I would be ordering them all even the naked neck version if I were importing them in. The only people I know of and in TN and FLa with adults, all the rest are juveniles mostly from the TN line that came from my birds originally. The oldest of the second US generation must be 4-8 weeks from lay now. Keep us posted. Sorry if this is OT. Just obsessed with these chooks Wink And the choc orps will be delicious!

TysExotics wrote:? I dont understand whats funny... They told me where their stock came from? ...approx. 50% of their flock came from somewhere in "Europe" with a high percentage originating in Spain. The other 50% comes from other breeders throughout the US. He says eggs will be included from individual lines, and combinations....

Also getting a limited number (4-6) chocolate orpingtons from him...

Chocolate Orpingtons! Did you really say Chocolate Orpingtons??? Ty, You Rock!

The eggs will only be of the Marraduna color. I don't know a whole lot about EO's... I just know there are people in Canada who want them. I cant say a whole lot about different breeders or origins, all I know is basically what I already said.

The guy who owns/operates the Sweetgrass post office is great. He is always willing to go out of his way to help with chicks and eggs. He will save eggs there for me and protect them, lol. Its the truckers/old lady driving pickup (what kind of USPS delivery truck is that, low budget?) that are hired for low wages that are the problem. When they dont care, this is what happens.

Looking forward to the Chocolate Orpington eggs, VERY expensive. I hope they end up sending at least 4 eggs...6 would be great!

Funny. THE only breeder in the states of EOs (and we have a whole forum dedicated to the breed) has never heard of this person. He suggested asking for documentation of these "imported EOs" from Spain. If you have in fact found a new line, I applaud you. If you have not, I will not be surprised.

Yes Susan, Im a liar. -.- Why dont you just say it? I have no interest arguing/discussing it with you. When the birds become available, I will provide the information to the people who I sell them to.

As per my response above. The EO's were not imported directly from Spain. They are from stock in Europe, that had Spanish bloodlines.

Oops forgot to add a little background info ( even though my experience is lacking in importing birds and genetic diversity), I thought as the altuistic and benevolent steward of rare breeds you would like to know this Ty. The marradunna and Gorria Euskal Oiloak, were imported to Canada 4 years ago. A number of them were dispersed throughout Canada to a small number of breeders. They have since shared/ sold the offspring to a few more individuals. A very small number were recently sent to the States who previously did not have this breed. The Euskal Oioloa is basically a farm bird, Originating from the. Basque Region of Spain. They are a dual purpose breed that lays approximately 220 eggs a year (mine lay more), with cockerals weighing 8 lbs and hens about 6.5.there personality sets them apart from most birds. They are outgoing and extremely friendly.
We are trying to increase numbers as well as improve our stock according to the Spanish guidelines. Right now, I am breeding the marradunna and Goria. We are not however in this for money and sell our eggs and birds for very reasonable prices in efforts to further this breeds popularity. In short Ty, you probably don't want to bother with them, they are't money makers.

They are ALL from Spain for goodness sake. These birds originated from the CANADIAN stock we already have! Research your birds before you profess this nonsense!

Suspect In his original email, when I ordered the eggs, he said the european blood was acquired as hatching eggs "last season." Your wasting my time. Susan you are the queen of EO's and have the only ones in the world! Lucky duck!

Nope, not even kinda, but I am honoured to be working with a bunch of dedicated individuals who want to make sure this breed endures. It is a collective effort of our love for this breed that will ensure its success. You could learn from this collective effort

Sorry guys this has gone beyond what the original post was about and so I am shutting it down. If you want to disucuss EO's further please start up a new thread, I am interested in reading about them but not on this thread.
