Piglets just born yesterday and three more litters due this week. The sire is a handsome purebred Berkshire boar, the dams are all "Chilcotin Special" bred especially for success on pasture. Friendly and good mothers.
We love weaner piglets in the fall and winter. They will be weaned and ready to go the first week of November. We make a single trip to Williams Lake that week to deliver piglets to customers or you can come to the ranch and pick your own. All males will be castrated. Sows were wormed (injectable ivomec) a week before farrowing.
November piglets are great because not only will they eat all your garden refuse and root up your vegetable garden but they only need a three sided shed and a pile of straw or grass hay to stay out of the cold. I have a big pile of straw under the eaves of my barn. Once the ground freezes we give them free range around the ranch and they clean up all sorts of left overs from the summer. They break up the piles of cow and horse manure and spread around any piles of old hay. We do supplement their foraging with hog grower and rolled barley and make sure they always have fresh water. They are happy and manure the whole place in preparation for spring. Until the ground freezes they stay in a pig pasture with a single electric tape. Easy peasy.
Asking $90 each, deposit of 50% due before weaning. Price goes up to $100 at weaning if you haven't paid your deposit before that date.
