Our broody pilgrim who 's eggs are starting to hatch is shaking her head constantly. .What could this be all about? Its like my dogs when they have a yeast infection in their ears.

Ear mites?

Put some drops of olive oil in the ear canal. If there are mites they will be smothered. Totally harmless to the bird and you have nothing to lose if it is something else.

She got off the nest for five minutes. I had a quick peek and saw one has pipped. I am surprised she is still getting off at this point but what do I know? She doesn't seem to be doing as much head shaking now . I read on line that geese don't get ear mites.
