My turkeys went from perfectly healthy to very sick in a day? Last night a black hen just went from droopy to dead in a matter of hours, now two others are looking droopy and lethargic, any ideas on what could be going on? I really don't want to loose anymore Sad

Could it be sinusitis? Did you notice any swelling in the sinus area?

You didn't notice anything out of the norm?

Check for Sulphur-yellow droppings in the pen.

That is a sure sign of Histomoniasis

I am very certain I had it last spring.
I lost 30 4 week old poults - hardest hit and 4 adults mostly the oldest ones.
Once the symptoms began to show, it took about 2 days for them to die.
it hit fast and hard.

Avoidance is the best way to guard against it.
Don't let turkeys and chickens share the same pasture and the parasite can remain is the environment for many years.

I am building a new Turkey enclosure as a result.

Doesn't seem to bother Chickens either, just turkeys and pheasants. - go figure.

Misnomer:
The head doesn't turn 'BLACK' it turns purple from lack of oxygen.
