Here is a link to the album on FB of the construction of my coop (only a third of the way done) and my chick tractor.

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151577197125821.1073741826.541460820&type=3

The main coop was a porch that was attached to our trailer when we bought it. It was gutted, re insulated, vapor barriered, and new plywood on the walls. There is a wire divider in the coop to keep the jerkface rooster away from my Dutch Bantams. The rabbit happily lives with them until we build the rest of the building.

The chick tractor was a small shed at my in laws place that we used as a bus shelter. The kids didn't use it at all this winter so it gets repurposed into a chick tractor that will work for breeding trios, or brooding.

I will add more pictures to the album as we do more work on the buildings.

Right now the coop is 8'x16', we will be adding a 16'x16' section that will have a generous hall (8x16) and an identical coop on the east side. there will be nice big outdoor yards along the west, north, and east sides. I'll draw out a picture of the finished plan as it is now and add it to the album.

If you come home and find extra chickens in your coop ... it wasn't me.

I made the album public... Hmmm.. I'll see if I can get some added directly here.

Maybe try this link. There are 30 pictures so linking an album is easier.

I feel like a husbunny would be easier to care for than a husbeast. Can you put a husbunny in a cage with food and water and he's happy for days?

Nice coops. My guy is just a wookie, even the kids call him that, and he's no handy man but he does the dishes and cleans inside, leaving me to all the fun building stuff so it all works out.

Does he pull people's arms out of their sockets when he loses?

My wookie is just big and hairy, and makes that funny wookie sound to amuse the kids. Lol. Yeah, he's the guy who the kids point at at the pool and ask their mom "why is he so hairy" or "what is that"? Lol. But he's mine and I love him. Smile

I love the coops though, maybe I'll have to get some pics of mine up one day but mine are not as nice.

Cheers,
Theresa

My coop and chick tractor 16_sq_10

16'x16' base was built yesterday. It has 2x6 joists that is sheeted on the bottom with pressure treated plywood. We built this upside down then had to flip it (that was interesting). Tonight we insulated, vapor barriered, and sheeted the top with 3/4" plywood. Husbeast got a Framing nailer that works like a hot damn!

Tomorrow we start on the walls!
