Swelling on hen's eye

I have a little black cochin hen who has swelling under her eye. The skin over the swelling has gone white. SHe is eating and drinking fine. How should I treat this?

You could try a bit of antibiotic salve, like polysporin in case it is a bacterial infection. I've done that for similar problems and the swelling was gone in a day or 2.
