Hey all,
I'm new to this Forum and desperately need advice. I have 9 hens. 4 road island, 3 barred rock, 1 Americana, and 1 blonde heritage type. Also 1 rooster.
I realize it's winter but I am getting one or 2 eggs every 2-3 days out of nine hens. They have lots of food, water and seem realativily happy.
I am feeding laying pellets and some scratch. Not sure what else I'm not doing or should be doing.
Anyone have any advice for me? Thank you.
I'm on vancouver island so it's not a major cold winter or anything. Thanks again.

Do you have lights on? If the answer is no, try 16 hrs of light a day this will help turn things around.

How old is your flock?  and check for mites maybe?  I have a flock of 8 birds, this past spring's hatch along with one rooster in a 4ft x 6 ft raised coop with a light turned on in the run at 6:00 a.m. and am getting 35 eggs week before last  and 45 eggs this past week and so far this week 15 eggs in 2 days.

Oldest hen is a year and a half. The rest are 9-10 months old. I will try a light for sure. As well I will check for
Mites. Although I did sprinkle
Powder throughout the coop hoping anything there might be taken care of that way.
My coop is 4x8 with some boxes and roosts
I have to do the light thing for
Sure. Thanks so
Much for your advice
