I have a small mixed flock of Cayugas and Runners. One of the runners seems to be limping, it started on the weekend, and seems to have a bit better. She doesn't seem to be in pain. We have checked her over numerous times, but can't find a wound, or thorns, or anything inflamed....everyone else seem to be fine.

I thought maybe her leg fell asleep on her, which has happened before lol! ...but its definitely not that...any ideas??

Thanks!

Maybe, I let them out on nicer weekends when we are home. How do you treat frostbite, should it be that??

If it is frostbite you will notice that it will either bubble a but and peel or will start to blacken. The only thing you can do is try to keep her warm and comfortable Good luck!!

Could she have gotten it caught in something? We had one that got her leg caught in baling twine, just for a moment but I think she pulled it and was limping for some time, eventually she has gotten over it. Kind of like a sprain. If nothing feels broken, if her feet are not really hot, then you should be fine.
Sometimes they step on things and you don't see a wound but will limp from it being tender. Also check for mud/poo build up on their toes, that will cause them to limp as well.
Hope she makes a full recovery for you.

I don't think it was frost bite as nothing changed color or felt "hot". We added more shavings to the coop and wiped "bag-balm" on the underside of he foot and that has seemed to improve it....I'm thinking is may have been more of a sprain.

Thanks everyone!
