I am thinking of getting guineas, but they have to do more then eat and scream. Does anyone raise them for meat? What do they taste like? Yes Sue I know like guineas. I want a reference to something I have experienced.

LF, if you want to eat them you have to be able to catch them first! Razz

BANG BANG went the gun. Sue apparently you don't know what they taste like then, as you didn't do your cute little comment.

They taste good, we cooked one up last year as it had a gibbled foot and it was like wild game birds. Darker meat and very flavorful. You dont get much for legs or wings, but the breast was very nice.
Definately have to watch how you cook it because there was no fat on the bird at all.

The larger pearl jumbo guineas would probably be the best type for eating, mine was just a smaller lavender one under 1 year old.

They're great tick eaters as well. We noticed a difference only days after purchasing our first guinea.
