Well the winter storm that Edmonton had the last couple days is here now. Couple inches of snow already and falling heavily. Snow is coming from the east which is never good, all our shelters face that direction because most of our prevaling winds are from the south or west...Banks are forming, had to send the kids out the front door this am since the back was banked up. Chickens are not happy, I feel like I could just shut myself in my house for the day, but still a bit of work to do.

Everyone out in this please drive safe, keep your animals warm and fed up, and take care.

Yes it is still coming down, wind makes it feel very cold! Took me twice as long to get chores done, figuring out which coops still needed heated dishes and feeding them up good in case I get snowed into my house. LOL
I still have one pen of birds to move today, not a lot of them but had to dig to get their pen open this morning so definately time for them to move out of there.

Getting Hit here also fed extra just incase
Still have 3 indoor coops to finish so the new chickens I picked up on Wednesday are in show cages filled with alot of straw in side the Coop area were they belong. The nice part is all the coops are built in the barn so I can feed without having to walk to different areas
Like Hidden said everyone be safe and stay warm
They are saying 30 cm so I hope they are wrong

I hear that it's coming our way ? but then again it is shifting towards Minnisota where they are expecting 6 inchs and Ontario is not expecting any ? so maybe we will only get the tail end of it ? Someone please post some pictures so we can see what it looks like out your way

We had to move lots of Muscoveys today to more permanate shelter,a couple young blacks were out in the pen and all I could see was their heads ,their bodies covered with a couple inches of snow, they were very comfortable and did come out to eat.Thats why I love this breed ,very hardy and mellow.
