Hey all! I'm looking for a photo of a processed heritage bird to use to show my customers what a heritage bird looks like. People don't know what the difference is between a nice lean and flavorful heritage bird and a meat bird. I had some photos of the last batch on my phone but my phone died and with it went my photos. This batch is already frozen so just thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone has a photo they don't mind sharing until we process our next batch in Dec or Jan.

Thanks in advance! Smile

I seem to recall that Hidden has the type of photos you want. Have you tried a search on this forum or the other?

Yes I think I've seen a few photos of processed birds on here, though I can't seem to find them with a search. I also want to make sure that the owner of whichever photo I use was ok with my using it Smile

Why not use a picture of an already frozen one? It would still give your customers a good idea of what they can expect. The differences in the finished product vary so much from breed to breed, I think it would be hard to borrow a photo and be able to say this is how a processed 'heritage' bird looks.

I think this post should remain active and there are people that have pictures of the processed heritage birds. If it were turkey I know for sure that Tara had a really good picture of a commercial one and a heritage one in a recent post. Hope you find what you are looking for. Have a wonderful day, CynthiaM.

Thanks all. Very Happy I would take a photo of the frozen ones but the bags seem to have ice crystals in them and I don't have time to cook one this week to defrost and photograph. I usually have a variety of breeds being processed so I'm not too concerned about the difference amongst heritage birds, more so just want to show people that they are NOT the square, fat, rolly polly birds that you buy in the store Smile

Coopslave, absolutely purrrrfect and wonderful pictures. Now all we need to see is a picture of a store bought chicken, displayed in almost the same manner. That would be perfect to do a picture comparison of the two types. Look at the size of the poopsnose on those birds!! Huge. I can't stand that part, but some people just LOVE it!! My Sister's fight over the turkey ones Shocked . Excellent. Maybe gonna copy those pictures Coopslave, in case I ever need to make up a little sign too, I am sure you have no objection, smiling. Have a wonderful day, CynthiaM.
