Is there such a thing? There's loose cow mineral, what about Poultry!

If this exists, what brand is it under so I can try and find it.

I get a loose poultry mineral mix, I mix it in with my grains for a complete ration.
I get my minerals from Freisen Livestock. They have a mix for layers and growers.

Found this too [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] but it is not Canadian.

You can also buy a high protein supplement for your grain that includes minerals, etc.

Silly question, is that what the $33 back of "Poultry Grow Supp" is?  I assumed it was a grower ration that's super high in protein, now I feel like an idiot.

Is there something like this for rabbits too!?

Interesting ? would this also be something that you could mix in with a already mixed feed ration to say bring up the protein levels ? just curious

I have seen this jeffers pet place before. Do you find you get gouged with customs? how are they for shipping across the border, ever end up missing stuff?

The $33 poultry grower supplement would be the same as the layer supplement. Generally it is a 35% pellet you mix out with the appropriate grain to increase your proteins and also add some minerals.
I was having an issue with my molting hens this winter and so I bought some 35% layer supplement, mixed it out with my grain mix and it really helped them along. You have to watch how you mix it though, too much protein will result in fat hens and decreased egg laying and increased laying issues (prolapses). And with the grower supplement to much protein can cause crooked toes, and too fast of growth leading to bone issues.
These packages are based on knowing what % protein your grains are you are mixing in. But adding in some here or there I think wouldn't hurt anything.

I order from Jeffers and I don't often get too gouged with customs, I always ask them to send it USPS, because if they ship it UPS then you have to pay brokerage fees.
What I have been doing lately now that there is a Canadian drop point in Havre is I take advantage of the free shipping and order it delivered there, then go down and pick it up. I plan my order with a trip I am already taking so it is not a special trip down since it is 2 1/2 hr drive. I have to pay to use the drop point but much cheaper than having big items shipped to Canada.

I have had good luck so far with ordering meds and stuff frkm them. No major gouging. I get it shipped USPS because UPS is bad for tacking on "brokerage fees."

It is the same thing I mention in post #4. You can purchase grain supplements at any feed store. It is an additive you can buy to bring your own grain to a % protein level that you can add to your grain to create chick grower, layer, etc. It is useful if you produce your own grain or have a cheap source.

the one I found was a powder more? but I basically would do the same thing... I would keep a bag on hand, and toss in a little bit to my grain when I was mixing all my own grain before--- just to boost the protein a little, add the minerals in a little
or like Sue said, to up the proteins so what you need for a chick/turkey grower

Don't most packaged poultry layer mash/grower mash add minerals?
I often wondered this..thanks Sweetened for asking

so is there a product that is straight minerals...no extra protein

and...isn't layer 16% protein?
what's with the 35%?...this is sounding like something i need to know

Our grower is 16% here, layer is 17% and I guess some people here get 18% layer?

You can add the 35% to straight grain to bring up the protein to layer or grower proportions.

We use a product called Fertrell pultry nutri balancer a mineral and vitamin mix, first recommended by Joel Salatin for use on pastured poultry,it's added at a 60 lb.bag per ton of feed.Since it's not a protein supp.the protein level of your feed is not an issue,it's available in Canada and comes in 60 lb. bags
