So, he is taking the cow back. Good. Now what is he going to do? Sell her again to someone else? Too bad we can't make others honest.

I love how your dogs look like mine ... all googly eyed and sweet. The dog I have now is a Mastiff x and she is the biggest boob. I have noticed around her she has a different approach to showing her aggressive side. Its like she is side stepping the situation and has the razor back with a head hung low and a deep growl. It almost like she doesn't want confrontation. Which is fine.

I always find that with some chit-chat a person can usually drop subtle hints that your not going to take and crap without saying that out right.

This is another concern of mine.  I have reported him to Kijiji as selling sick animals and misrepresenting them and I plan, when he picks her up, to post her on there again with a warning NOT to buy her.  If I see or think I see an ad for her come up, I'll report it every single time.

Sweetened...... Make "sure" you get CASH back, no cheques. If you go back to my other post I would post it like that on kijiji. No names. Just

an area, and a farmer is selling sick dairy cows, beware. Hope all goes well. I like Sue's idea. Much more official, crooks don't like official

anybody. Smile

Yeah, agreed Miss Leghorn.

He tried calling me, but I wouldn't answer. My emails plainly stated all communication was to be in writing.

He hasn't supplied me with his "details and conditions."

My Lawyer said the conditions are as follows: Come get her, reimburse the $500, take the milker and never be seen again.

If he doesn't contact me in writing by the time I get to work tomorrow morning, I will send him a dictation of when he can pick her up and the conditions therein. I have to give him today, as he stated "today" in the email. I have a feeling he'll be at my house when I arrive. Lord help him if he has the millker, because its in the house, then the cops get called!

Sweetened....Hang in there, it will soon be over, BUT don't be alone when he arrives, and recording the exchange on your or friends cell phone would

be a good idea too. Hope to hear you did well. Go girl!!!!!

Great idea, Lady Leghorn. I sent him notification for arrangements this morning since he didn't reply in writing yesterday. My lawyer is anxiously waiting in the wings.

He never replied to me in writing. This morning I sent him a note with my conditions (you show up these days at this time within 10 days, give back the money or you no get milker, I've already spoken with my lawyer, blah blah blah) and he just finished booking for Saturday morning.

Vet just told the lady with the Jersey her udder has so much scar tissue she may never produce more than the 1 liter she's getting again.  She's bred to calve a month earlier than the seller told her and they are testing for Mycoplasma Mastitis, but he thinks is staph.

Candy is gone, he picked her up Saturday morning.

I felt a bit bad initially, because when he climbed into the pen with her she instantly moved away, nevermind the fact I was standing nearby with oats. She went the entire other direction. He reached out to look at her udder and she kicked him, fought him while he put two ties on her to pull her to the trailer, threw her head at him and so on. So much for the quiet cow that doesn't kick and is halter trained/lead broke.

He looked her over very accusingly, looking around the pen checking over my goats. Told me "She's never been chronic before." Regardless, buddy, she is now, and you sold her to me sick and you KNEW it. He was upset that we used Ermethryn-36 or whatever, claiming it had never worked for her before, why would we do three rounds of it. Sorry, I don't have human fertility medication (Clomid) to use, off label, for my cow, nor would I. "Well," he said with a snotty attitude, "Good luck with your next venture then, I guess."

I turned around and went back in the house.

Aha! BEFORE! So she has had mastitis before, and by the sounds of his words not just once.

So sorry this was the introduction you had to milk cows. Glad the nightmare is over.

Do you plan to look for another?

That's exactly what Moose said. He cannot deny she's had it, the morning after I got her I sent him a text asking if he'd noticed it, and he called and said yes, his son said she had been 'stringy' the night before we picked her up, and they treated her with Clomid (Human fertility drug with no bovine indications).

It's not my first experience with milk cows, which is part of the reason I realized something was wrong so quickly (too late, mind you). I had a milk share, and the only time he had mastitis in his herd in the 6 months I milked with him, was when he had a cow on loan after he dried up his Dexters, and she was a brown Swiss X Jersey. The mastitis was caused by one of the Dexters attacking her at her udder, which they didn't realize was happening until about a week after when they witnessed it.

I am waiting to hear back from the woman with the Jersey; there is a chance it's Mycoplasma Mastitis. My understanding is, if it is, we have to 'quarantine' our property from cows for a specified amount of time to stop the life cycle of the virus, and I don't know that length yet. The implications for me are little more than annoyance, as it's not zoonotic and won't effect the goats, said her vet. But for her, she must put down that jersey as well as the other she purchased from a dairy, in turn losing both calves as they are confirmed pregnant. Her cousin, who owns Candy's half sister, will lose almost 800 head of cattle (and their calves). The only course of stopping the Mycoplasma Mastitis cycle is to butcher every cow exposed, as the calves will carry it and so on. How devastating.

I will get another cow, but have decided I will bottle raise a heifer and go from there.

Apparently he is unaware of the definition of "chronic". What a moron.
