Oh my, my, what a beautiful thing to see before I hit the TV to watch a movie. Oh geeze. That is a wonderful number of little ones, and they surely shall keep mamma busy. Yes, sometimes I too have seen the newborns peck at the mamma's bright and shiney eye. Kind of worried me the first time I saw it, but mamma could care less. Baby beaks are very soft I would imagine (except for the top where the egg tooth is, that must be pretty tough to crack a hole in an eggshell, smiling). And they are not pecking to get food hard, just nature I suppose to peck, peck, peck. Love the pictures Tara, and yes, you have begun a fever. One of my almost 5 year old cochin gals laid an egg today. She has been taking a break since mid September. Yep, the first of the cochins to begin, I am sure that she will set a trend. I would not be surprised to see her wanna be broody after the solstace. But....no fertile eggs, yet....still got some juveniles that have not one bit of interest, too young. But she could visit a boy next door
.
Got a couple of very nice blues that would just love to get their hands on an older woman. Might have to send her for a little visit, or just trade off boys to a different pen
, just for now. Have a most wonderful day, CynthiaM.
