We had a good turn out. I saw my first blue slate turkeys. Lovely pair. I want some. Also saw golden sebrights. I like them more that the silver ones. I want some. Saw Basque chickens for the first time. Nice breed. There was a pair of Grey dorkings but they were in a box with a small window and I couldn't see them . Alot of birds were not visible in their selling boxes. I also saw a very bad example of buff orpingtons. They had the body shape of a leghorn, not very big, black tail feathers in the rooster and wrong body color. I was sitting by the lady who was selling them and asked her where they came from. She said a local guy. I took the clubs SOP with me (don't know why) so i went to get it to show her what buff orpingtons were supposed to look like. I was amazed at the condition of some birds. Some hens had no feathers. One rooster looked like it got hit by a bus. What was even more amazing was the fact that people were buying them. Anyway I had worked all night gone straight to the auction and was up all day . I was so tired I slept all evening got up and went to bed and slept all night. Didn't buy anything at the auction but had aranged to have items delivered. A pair of german owl pigeons, 4 rools of wire and a dozen cream legbar eggs. I'll keep you posted on them.
