Hey Everyone,

Here is my latest creation,
I no longer want to brood chicks inside the Garage, I am tired of the dander and the mess associated with it. In order to keep the powers that be pleased, the property a bit more appealing, and the chicks the opportunity to be raised in a more natural environment. I created and built this portable, open floored brooder box.

It's 8 feet long, 4 feet wide, and 2 feet tall. This one is framed with 2x4's as that's what I had available. The roof or lid part is framed 16" on centre and over hangs a few inches on either end, with Suntuff pvc roofing.
Sheathed of 3 walls, working on the 4th, which will have a pop door.

A great way to raise chicks.

I still have a few more things I want to do, like install Support arms to help support the lid, rather than the 2x4 I used to prop it with for the pics, Trim and most likely wheels.

Here are some pics!

Very nice! Are there handles on both sides or is this one to drag?

Having multiple brooders in the barn - the barn is getting a little.. stuffy. It would be nice to have them outside especially now we are getting 30C days (May 5?? Crazy stuff!)

Just wait Tara, remember I lived there for a while, and you are still going to get a snow storm on the May long weekend. That happens EVERY year!
The brooder is a great idea, may have to steal it as well (if I can find someone to build it for me Rolling Eyes ).

Do you have elk nearby, a hunting trip makes a great trade. I can't guarantee my lines would be as straight or that it would be all the same colour as I tend to want to use whatever scraps I can find....just saying Very Happy

What would the May long weekend be without a good snowstorm?
