My husbands birthday is in about 11 days. He would love to have a green house. I thought I had one, saw it online at Home Depot a Palmram 8' x 8' for $998 and free shipping. But I found out that we can't get it here..only in the US. Darn!!!!! Does anyone have plans for an 8 x 8 or 8x 10 and I could buy the 2 x4s or whatever as a birthday present? Would love to give him something he really wanted for his special day.

Oh! Okay. Got ya. I thought you were asking about green house plans. As in an environmentally 'green' house. I thought wow, way to stir it up Cuckoomamma! But I see you want greenhouse plans. Can't help you there...I was all fired up for the 'other' thing.

Our chicken coop comes from a green house plan where we substituted stucco wire for plastic sheeting. I can add some pictures and give a link to the plans if that is the type of structure you had in mind.

That would be fabulous Rosewood. i don't have to have it built by the 27th, but if I could buy a gift certificate for wood etc and plans, maybe that would suffice.

Sorry Uno. Maybe a Green duck house or chicken coop?

We built this coop a number of years ago by altering a green house plan. The original plan used plastic film just like the commercial greenhouses. Here is the link to the original plan-http://www.albertahomegardening.com/how-to-build-an-inexpensive-hoop-style-greenhouse/. Looking for Green house Plans 100_1606

I own the 10' model of this bender. It makes a nice hoop house but you have to find all the items to build the hoop house.

We built an all season greenhouse this year. We used this as our base and improved upon it:
http://aes.missouri.edu/swcenter/research/Solar-heated%20greenhouse.pdf
Ours is still growing things now, with heat supplemented by two 400 watt lights.
Even with negative 25C weather, the greenhouse never dipped below 45F degrees. Sorry about the temperatures being in a different base.
If you are interested in this type, rather than the typical one, PM me. I'll send some pictures.
My next project will use chickens as heaters -lol

Cuckoomama, if you want that book, I own it, have read it, really enjoyed it, but have bought a commercial greenhouse and no longer need it. It is yours if you send me your address. It has everything in it from fancy to easy and affordable. It also gives the pros and cons for each and ideas on heating.

I built my greenhouse using old patio doors and 4x4 landscape ties. Really easy to do and you can build it any size you want. I keep my eyes open for people replacing their patio door units and pick them up for free, I have a couple sitting right now waiting for the time to build a second one. You can use the panels outside of the frames as solid panels and the frames that are still good give you opening panels. The greenhouse does double duty as a larger brooder for the chickens, it is a very handy thing.

Vesey's lists both a Greenhouse and a grow house.

http://www.veseys.com/ca/en/search?veseys=7lgcns0cpm3ma6is45145206c6&keywords=greenhouse

Amazon.ca list one or two as well.

Canadian Tire had some but I don't see any listed now.

Home Hardware does have some.

I like the pyramid one. I always have a tough time seeing them as a greenhouse, I always start imagining them with chickens in them.... Rolling Eyes

Can you post a picture of your green house Kevin? I have been looking at the Free ad sections and have seen free glass. Thanks for the great idea!
