I would like to invite you to check out a new web site I have been involved in making. This site has been designed to fill what I have seen as a need in our Canadian hobby. For sometime there has been several auction sites in the US for our hobby. None in Canada. The Canadian Poultry Classifieds and Auction has been set up to fill that need. It's main purpose is to provide a place where the Canadian bird hobbyist can go to sell their surplus stock or locate something they need. It is not a discussion or information site. Discussion is actually discourage as we want to keep the site as streamline as possible. There are already great sites in Canada such as this one, Western Canada Poultry Swap, ACE, or Poultry Swap Ontario, where there are plenty of discussion areas and information sections.

The Canadian Poultry Classifieds and Auction site is not meant to replace any for sale or auction areas on the three main Canadian sites. It is an addition to them. It provides the hobbyist with an additional venue to sell their surplus. I would highly suggest that you continue to place your ads on those sites if you have in the past. I have always put my ads on all three and plan to continue doing so. The more areas you have to advertise, the better chance you have to sell.

Canadian Poultry Classifieds and Auction is a sister site to ACE and as such, the rules on ACE will apply there. Many of the mods on ACE have volunteered to help out. However, it is not necessary for you to be a member of ACE to use the new site. You must become a member of the new site in order to advertise or buy on it.

Please feel free to drop by and take a look at it. If you have any comments on how to improve it or features to add to it, drop me a email.

The sites address is [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Hope to see you there soon.

It must have been a lot of work to set all this up! I'll try to remember to check in once in a while to see what is going on and what's up for grabs. I think this kind of site could work well for those who buy or sell hatching eggs and items that can be easily shipped. Congrats on the new site!

Piet i got shot down on ACE just brain storming. Than i had a rather long conversation how they are a forum and not an auction site. And i got banned and rather mad at them.

Perry i have a domain, if you could figure out name servers. I could point it to those.

Doesn't directing traffic to another forum to buy and sell birds kind of sound a bit ballsy? Especially since this forum was started to help people buy and sell poultry because the other site is run by someone who didn't want to take the advise of others on this subject in the first place and felt it is easier to ban people rather than listen to what the membership wanted?!?! I don't see anything wrong with it. After all Forums are about exhanging information not member ship count! Plus it's an auction site so it's different than a forum Wink

I have no problems with the auction site in itself, I do have an issue with it advertising the ACE forum and not this one, and yet you are using this forum to advertise the auction site?
I do allow auctions to go on here, and do not feel threatened by this new auction site. Some people prefer to have a larger following for auctions, that is how you drive the prices up, but keeping auctions between friends/neighbors sometimes allows for easier transactions.

I will for sure be following the new auction site and see how it makes out, I do wish you well in this Perry and hope it is sucessful for you.

Poor Perry, he was never involved with any of the issues on the other site and may not even be aware of them. Perry worked hard to put the auction site together. This forum is NOT like the other one. Mentioning another site will not get you banned. Just one of the many reasons why I like it here.

Yes, I also agree with Schipperkesue, but valid points by DWD and Piet, too. It does sometimes seem that we take it for granted that anything goes here, but we need to remember to always show courtesy and respect to Hidden River who has provided this excellent forum for us. No one dares mention this forum on ACE, but it happens often the other way around.
I'm glad Hidden does not feel at all threatened by a new site starting up.Perry has made it clear that the purpose is different - no discussion, it is strictly a buy/sell site. But if I have birds to sell, I will still use this forum. I like this format. It feels much more personal when people can post questions, offer comments on the birds etc. I like to feel that I know the person a bit before selling them chickens.
And honestly, I think the challenges with shipping live birds or animals will mean the auction site ends up being mainly an egg-swap site. Anyway, we will see how it goes. Opening just in time for spring should get it off to a good start. And with that big new hatchery starting up at Langley, there will be thousands of hatching eggs this spring needing customers to buy them!! Laughing

You haven't heard?
Emily Robertson (AKA TruNorth) has a deal with the developers of Mistral Gris to operate a breeding flock. She has announced that she will be selling hatching eggs and chicks: Mistral Gris for meat, another hybrid variety for eggs and her own Light Sussex for those who still want a heritage-type bird.
