I am very disappointed that I will not be able to show my birds at the CHB show in Red Deer from Nov. 23-25. I had planned on taking down to show between 35 to 50 birds. I really wanted to show everyone the different types of standard Wyandottes my friend Shawn and I have collected. We now have standards in Black, Blue, Buff (2 bloodlines), Golden Laced, Partridge, Silver Laced, White (Show line), Columbine, Buff Columbian, and Silver Penciled (Show line- absolutely huge beautiful birds). Along with pairs and trios of the above birds I was planning on taking down my standard Partridge Rocks, Silver Penciled Rocks, Barred Rocks and bantams in Dark Cornish, Silver Sebrights, Golden Sebrights, Chamois Sebrights, Booted Bantams, and Black and Blue Rosecombs.
I guess I am just getting old. I started experiencing some problems last summer with reading. I thought it was just time to change my glasses. When they checked it 3 weeks ago they could not get my left eye to focus. Off to the specialist two weeks ago. My worry was that it was my diabetics (I am type 2) acting up. I was actually relieved to find out it was not diabetic caused. I have developed a “wrinkle” at the back of my eye ball. They have booked me in for an appointment at 7:30 am at the Retina Clinic in Edmonton on November 23. They may decide to operate that day on it. Of course, being the first day of the show I cannot take all the birds down with me to Edmonton to discover they are operating. My wife is not a bird person so I could not expect her to take them down to Red Deer, cage them up, then pick them up on Sunday.
I am still hoping to make it down to the show on Friday to see the birds and some of the judging on Saturday morning. I have several birds to deliver to people and birds to pick up for Shawn and myself. I still hope to do that. I will be bringing them down with me to Edmonton. If they operate on Friday I will have to take them back home and make other arrangements to drop them off and pick up my birds.
Hopefully the weather will be nice so I cant take all our birds to the spring show in Wetaskewin. I would have love for you all to have seen them.
I may have some standard Buff Wyandotte and Silver Penciled hatching eggs for sale by the show. If interested let me know and I will bring them down.
