So I noticed the week old kids tucking into mom's food last night. (Dairy goat ration) and I started thinking.

When do I wean them?

When do they need to be separated from the girls to prevent accidental breedings?

When can I breed mom again?

At what age should you first breed a young doe?

When can I worm mom? Do I need to ait for her to stop nursing?

When should I worm the kids?

How late can I neuter the boys?

I am sure your answers will lead to more questions, so be patient and gentle with me!

When do I wean them?
From 8 weeks on but you will have to separate them

When do they need to be separated from the girls to prevent accidental breedings?
They will come in heat around 5 months

When can I breed mom again?
when ever you want

At what age should you first breed a young doe?
around 7 months

When can I worm mom? Do I need to ait for her to stop nursing?
You can worm her now

When should I worm the kids?
I do them at 6 weeks but that is me

How late can I neuter the boys?
Better to band them now

Thats how I always did I am sure you will get other answers but when I had the 150Dairy goats it worked for me

Here are a few website that are very informative.
And the one for the meat goats still is good for
any breed. I use these all the time.
Weening not until 3 months same for breeding
Give mom at lease 6mth rest.
I personaly will not breed a young doe until she is
minimum 1 yr. But I have had accidents and they have been fine but the doe does not reach her full size.
The rest check the websites below I still have to as my memory brain card forgets. Hope this helps.

I am speaking from a Dairy herd perspective
not from the owning of a few goats
so Maybe I do it different but it always worked for us and we had alot of does with great milk records as well as BF records
and some of them were does bred at 7 months
breeding early does not hurt them and when they freshen they are usually a year old if not older depending on when they were put in with the buck.
The does were rested (dried Off) a month before kidding
That way they built themselfs back up
I guess if its done as a buisness it is alittle different

Wanted to ad that those are some of the Better web sites that Karona listed

I breed my young does the fall they were born if they are 8-9 months old, I wean between 8-12 weeks and I will rebreed some does for fall/winter babies right after weaning.
