I have 3 golden sebrights, I know 1 is a hen. I am wondering if the other 2 are possibly young roosters. They have a dark purplish colored comb, but it is small like the hens, whose comb is alot ligher colored. Anyone with sebrights could you help me? I will try to post pics of them. I was told they should be all hens, but got to thinking at least one might not be when it started to kind of crow yesterday. It does this only when the other rooosters start crowing. Thanks

My guess is always when it looks different from the hen, (darker or larger comb) it is a rooster. I don't go too much by size as we do have smaller built roosters.
Keep us posted on what it turns out to be!

Seabrights are interesting as they are one of the few chicken breeds that the cocks and hens look identical. Cocks do not have hackle feathers or saddle feathers found in other breeds. The body types and size are the same.
The only real difference is the roos have a larger comb and they have wattles.
They only way I used to tell mine apart was to wait till they crowed or an egg popped out.

The "crow" if you want to call it that is pretty awful sounding. Quite a harsh grating sqwak really. Only 1 of the 2 is making the sound. I know I have at least 1 hen in the pen, I got an egg yesterday out of the three!! LOL Will definitely try to get pics on here today to see if anyone can tell by the comb color.

I've raised Sebrights for over thirty years. There is quite a difference between the male and females. It is true the male carry the hen feathering but you should be able to tell the difference. Post pictures and we will tell for sure. True Sebrights the female should have the darker mulberry colored comb. Red combs are a no no in Sebrights.

How old are they. To me they all look like females that are ready to lay.

The last one is no older than a year and a half, and the other 2 are younger than her, but not positive how old. It is possible they are all hens, but it confused me when the one was trying to "crow" she/he sounded soo horrible!

I almost 100% sure they are all hens. We've had hens that actually crowed so that is nothing new. I've even had some that actually changed sex and looked more like a male as it got older. It looked and acted like a male for a the few years of it's life.

I will assume I have 3 hens. The one in the first pic left me a small gift today, so I know that one is a hen. Now I wish I had bought some non-toxic paint to dab on them so I know who is laying and who is not!! Thanks soo much.

I agree that you seem to have three hens.
I have Polish hens that sometimes crow. Sounds funny when they do.
