We have a couple cranky kids here this week. By supper time they can hardly sit still to eat less they fall asleep. The youngest keeps wriggling while trying to eat. He has fallen off his chair a few times when he has suddenly fallen asleep. They go to bed at the usual time, but are awake at when the clock is struggling to make six. They are still waking up at the old time to get up. They soon have the rest of us awake because what boys can really play quietly for very long. The adults here are suffering from lack of sleep as we need the lost hour plus of sleep. We are wondering if messing with the clock is really of any benefit.

I would LOVE it if they just dropped the whole thing entirely. The biggest day for car accidents every year is the day after the spring ahead. Get rid of it!

You know you could all move to Saskatchewan and not have to deal with this problem... I guess we just know how to keep things simple here.

BUt we better be careful they are talking about a trial change for a couple years, why in the world do we need or anyone need to change time.

Ah ha! I knew it! I was telling someone how much I envied Saskatchewan, for their lack of time change, and they didn't believe me!

I greatly dislike the time changes. I have the hardest time adjusting to them. I have been waking up at 4 am, even though I am staying up that hour later. Not only that, the roosters haven't figured out the time change yet, and are wildly crowing at 4am. And the kids are still waking up too early.

HR I thought they don't change the time in Saskatchewan 'cause no one there would ever be able to figure it out!! lol!

Tongue in cheek here, I was born and raised in Saskatchewan and I am a stubble stomper at heart!! I hate the time change, when I finally get to sit down in the evening and want to call home, there is a 2 hr difference and its too late. Or is that too early? Or... arghh, see stumble stomper at heart I can never get it right. Should be simple!!!

Yes, well I am a "married into Saskatchewan" woman so the time change was my way of life until 9 years ago. I do find it difficult in the fall/winter to meet up with my mom now, by the time we stay in for supper it is super late getting the kids home for bed. But the plus side is I get to leave home at the same time as my appointments in the city now since it takes me about 1 hour to get there, so nice on that fact. I can make an 8 am appointment and not leave home till 8 am my time...
Pops I sure hope they dont change our time, I think the rest of the world just needs to pick one time and stick to it, not sure what it all accomplishes except tired people.

I agree raised in B.C. miss it so much but the time change thing is crazy, but our government is being asked to try it for 2 years and see what happens, it is not busted why try and fix it.

I don't mind the spring ahead, but just don't see the need to fall back. Why not just move ahead one hour and leave the time that way. At this time of year I can eat breakfast in the dark, but doing later afternoon chores outside in the dark is a different matter.

I'm not a morning person so it's the spring ahead that really nails me.

I agree, I like having some light at the end of my day. I am a morning person anyways, so it doesn't matter if it is dark or not.

Daylight savings time messes up everything. I like it. I don't like it, depends on what is what. It surely does throw things off though, and children are very sensitive to it. Children have like a clock within their souls and they will get up pretty much same time most days (even when they are up really late, then that makes for cranky kids for sure).

I like that my birds are in bed by 4:00 now, (they are very lazy in that way, smiling). But I know that for about another month or so, the days will get even more short, until the winter solstace. Then the days begin to lengthen again, yay!!

Wintertime to me is a cozy time. I begin supper early, like around 4:00 and we are eating by 5:00 to 5:30. Then, the entire evening to do lazy stuff, like watching TV. I rarely watch TV or movies in spring/summer, but wintertime, I catch up. We have a PVR, lots of recorded stuff and lots of movies. It is a time when I gain about 10 pounds and on my small frame, that is alot of weight. Usually I can't do up my jeans come February, but I still squeeze in. Sorry, rambled off the topic.

I like that the mornings are lighter now, means I can let my chickens out earlier, not that it makes much difference to them, they don't know time. But it is nice to go out at 8:00 and it is very nicely lit up out there. I would like it if there was no change in things though, get rid of the time change I would say. Beautiful days, CynthiaM.
