Due to our water situation I have decided to let 2 of our nurse cows go this year.
"Thistle" is a heifer this year, being exposed to a Red Angus bull currently, and should make an excellent nurse cow or family milk cow. Her mother is an excellent producer, we use her milk for the house and she also raises 2 calves for us. Her sister has moved on and easily raises 2 calves for her owner out on pasture with no supplementing of grain. Thistle has been worked with a bit when she was a calf but not halter broke but would be easy to train. She is built like a Jersey.
"Baby" is a 4 year old cow, she is a Holstein cross Jersey, she has been hand and machine milked and has raised 3 calves for the last couple years for us. She is a very nice gentle cow, loves to be milked and accepts calves completely within 2 weeks of putting them on her.
It is a shame to see these girls go, so will go to approved homes only.
