I pm'ed you triplejfarms.

If there is another bedazzled class, you KNOW I am bringing my calf again.. and this time... he will beleive he is a chicken.

Oh and my bantam white leghorn cockeral.. my pet. Maybe Ill die it pink and put fuzzy feathers on it, JUST for Rico, cause we all know how much he loooovvess silkies!

Oh DSSR I doubt there will be a chance to do a bedazzled/colour bird class there is class for that in a sanctioned APA/ABA poultry show. We don't want to scare way our certified APA/ABA american judge.

The fun coloured class and bedazzled class was only at a sale and not at a sanctioned show.

We plan to have a good time and lots of fun at this show in some other ways... Very Happy

Can I bring a half dozen French (feather legged) cuckoo maran pullets and cockerels for a judges opinion even though they are not a recognized variety?

Hi Piet,

By all means bring your Cuckoo Marans and enter them into the show. The Black Copper Marans are now an accepted breed by the APA and the American Standard adheres to the French standard calling for lightly feathered shanks and toes. Hopefully the Cuckoo variety will be accepted next.

Actually Rico I believe that Wheaten is the next color up and I believe they have a meet in Indy. I will keep everyone posted as to weather they are accepted or not.

Yes, you're probably right. They tried the Cuckoo before but were not uniform enough. I believe exhibitors will take a liking to this breed.

Hey Everyone,

Well I have put some thought into it and I have decided that I want to show a few of my birds, I have two Splash BLRW hens that I would like to show, as well as perhaps my Black Orpington Rooster. I was planning on showing my black orp hen Big Mama, but as of a week ago when I started hitting the books hard and slacked on my egg collecting she decided to go broody again and has completely plucked her chest bare. Silly hen.

I have some choosing to do, but over all it will be for the fun and the learning aspect of it, a nice break during studies to get my mind back on Chickens.

Hope to see many of you there, Still a few months away.

Plan on attending the bathing seminar as well!

Cheers,

Jonny A

Coop out for the Alberta birds is 4:00pm on Sunday. For out of province exhibitors they have the option of cooping Sunday morning before 9:00am because of their extended travel. Some Alberta exhibitors are cooping in their birds on Thursday evening and returning Saturday for the banquet and leaving on Sunday afternoon. This way they only have the expense of one night in the hotel.TripleJ is lucky since Calmar is only 138km from Red Deer. KRL and I will be testing the drive to Calmar tomorrow for the grooming seminar that TripleJ is graciously hosting. cheers cheers

That's what I was thinking... I hope the roads are good that weekend if we have to drive back, forth thurday, saturday and sunday..seeing how I won't be getting a room for 2 nights.
Will someone be feeding, wattering , cleaning the birds or do the owners have to be there to do this? And what time/day is the bedazzle class so I know what day, time I have to be there to put costume on my chicken lol

There will be designated volunteers that will be feeding and watering the birds for the weekend.I have to work the following Monday as well if we are finished tear down, clean up and delivering of the trailer by 1:00 am we will be lucky. Then I will drive 30 minutes home, put my birds to bed, sleep for 3 or 4 hrs and be at work at 7:30 am.I think you have to be a little crazy for the chicken business geek

Hi Folks,

Some information for exhibitors about the Red Deer show. All birds except the junior showmanship birds need to be in there coops by Friday at 11:00 AM. As far as the Bedazzles class the dressed up birds will be judged Saturday afternoon after the Junior Showmanship which starts at 1:00 PM, so we are setting it for 3:00 PM.

Now as far as releasing birds, Liz is correct. We will look after the water and feeding of the birds. Out of province can leave after the banquet or before 9:00 AM Sunday and in province at 4:00 PM.

All poultry entries are sent to me except for the "Bedazzled Class" which need to be sent to Shannon. The Bedazzled class is her baby.

If you any other question please ask.

You could drop off birds thurs eve or fri am and then pick up Sunday afternoon.
We are finalizing the details of the bedazzled class and will have a time of judging very soon. We are finalizing the judge right now..... it sort of depends on their availability etc. to some extent.

I am glad the show is a three day event! Any of the one day sales I never seem to catch up to everyone and it seems you get there and turn around...

This is going to be like a super exciting busy vacation! The three days will fly bye Very Happy
