....on a gosling!  Poor little thing hatched this morning.  It sibling yesterday.  This afternoon I went out to take them and mama food and water see how things were.  Well mama stands up and there is only one.  Where the heck is it.  It had crawled off and she did not catch it.  It was limp, cold and lifeless.

I brought it in and tried to warm it by the space heater.  Nothing.  Tried to listen for a heartbeat.   Went upstairs to show my husband the sadness.  Went to go back down again and kept looking at thinking itd not blue.  WHy is it not blue, but not breathing.  I decided to pinch its web foot and Whoa - deep pain withdrawal.  It was alive and could feel that!

SO I went back to the heater and vigorously started to stimulate it.  Even a little mouth to bill (blowing down open mouth no lips to bill Smile AFter about ten minutes the little guy started peeping and moving around!  Yippee!

"troy" as kids have named him is spending the night in my sons room under my new eco glow brooder.

It was the craziest thing I have ever seen!

Good for you. I find with waterfowl that they go into a coma like state when they are over chilled, warming them up seems to bring them back to life. Hopefully it makes a full recovery for you, I have had a few come out with no ill effects but most will end up dead in a day or two and I am not sure why?

I have revived puppies and bunnies like this. Good work! I will have to remember this.

Yeah good going Fuzzy. That deep pain withdrawal is interesting. I will definitely remember this. My Mum talks about a time when they had chicks, one was a little "other" somehow. It would just not go in at night and could be found on a cool evening standing in its spot sort of frozen - not frozen like you get here (ie REAL freezing, I'm talking the kind you get in a subtropical place  Laughing ). Mum would go collect him and put him in a shoe box, wrapped up in a warm towel in the hot water cupboard. Defrost system. This happend a few times, each time they thought he would not pull through. Eventually a hawk got Tweetie  Sad .

Ya sue just like reviving a puppy born by c-section. Except no drugs, o2 or suction! I even did one swing upside down just in case of fluid in lungs.

Little troy is doing well. Watched some tv this afternoon, had playtime with kids after dinner. It was quite comical as he tried to chase my 3 year old down the hall. Then tonight sat with my son while he read. Yep house goose....

He's now been moved down stairs due to the peeping...troy not my husband that is. I caught him stroking him and telling him not to grow up to be an a**hole. Oh dear..

I think Echo1 might be right.  That is a conversation usually reserved for "father-son" moments  Smile .

Yes inside troy "it" is getting huge. Outside troy "ot" is braving this crappy weather with his mamma and the rest of the goose clan is about half the size!

Inside troy ate almost a whole head of lettuce the other day....
