It is a porcupine.
Saw the tracks in the snow. Suspected what it was and then googled. Yep, porcupine. May be a family, not sure how they live. I will have fun looking into it. Hope they stay down there.

I think we are ok. Dogs are never unattended and now that I know what is there we will not be investigating as much. Our dogs are very obedient.

Oh geeze, I have never seen a porcupine, and they surely do make me a little freaked out. I have read posts of dogs and these critters. Thank goodness your dogs are obedient and listen and probably won't go near the area. Eeeks. Have a safe and wonderful day, CynthiaM.

How far are they from your garbage cans of feed? The only trouble I've had with porcupines is that they will gnaw through everything to get to just the smell of feed!

Glad it isn't a fox family. They are so hard on birds!

Better porcupines than shunks.

porcupines can do their fare share of damage, they will eat anything if they think it is food.
