its a mushroom, eadible i am told but not tasty. When i worked at a greenhouse we had products to get rid of fairy ring in combination with good aeration. We did not get favorable responses to it and most peole ended up digging. Aeration seemed to be the best preventative. good luck

I have not had to deal with one of a LONG time, but old school was aeration and a mild dish soap/water solution down the holes. Like I say, it was a long time ago, but it worked for ours.
