Sorry, this isn't about poultry but I'm gobsmacked.

I just caught wind of this yesterday. As people know, Iceland was hard hit during the financial crisis. Apparently the people protested, the government stepped down, the Prime minister was charged and convicted of failing to keep his cabinet informed, heads of the major banks have also been indicted...

in other words, they are actually holding the people in power accountable for their actions.

So why has this received such little coverage in the media?

Monkey see, Monkey do.

The governments (I'm going to point a big fat finger at the US and then abstractly towards our own) don't want their people to know or to recognize that someone's doing that because then it might be their heads on the chopping block like it long should have been.

Good for Iceland, is what I say. It's about time a people's republic was held accountable by the people, for the people, with the people.

Good read.
