I like to give my chicks pureed hard boiled egg as a treat sometimes and the thought just occurred to me, should I be leaving the shell out of it. I can get it fine enough, it's the calcium I'm wondering about?

Thanks Wink

Here is an interesting site to check out.
I feed my chicks hard boiled egg but always take the shell off and mash the eggs. I do feed the extra shells all smashed up to the adult birds. Wondering what anyone else does? Seems like I have heard to much calcium might not be good for them.

That was my wondering as well. They don't need the calcium.......I was thinking. I'll take the shell off from now on. Thanks Chickees. I'm also giving them a little ground rolled oats on the days I don't give them a little egg. It sure makes them less afraid of me. They're all over me when I have a treat. So cute.

Good article I know mine eat grass and lots of other green things, I also have Oyster shells available all the time, but I use the egg shells to look after the slugs that eat my garden, and the guineas look after all the bug around the place.
