I looked into shipping chicks through the postal system amd what I found is you must be a govt inspected farm to ship with canada post. To this it puts the majority of us out of the running to ship through the post due to cost of inspection and all the other regs you need to follow to become an inspected farm

Any live chicks shipped must be day old from what I understood from the info I recieved. I am not sure where you eould go to become inspected but would think if you searched your provincial website you would be able to learn more. Also if you go to your local post office and ask for the regs for shipping live chicks you can get the info you need straight from them. Good luck with everything

You can ship via west jet using a pet carrier, anything from day old to adults. The flight charge is usually around 100.00 within the country pending the size of the pet carrier. No permits are required umless you feel compelled to send a signed blank check to my address. Laughing

Don't forget the cost of a pet carrier. They run somewhere around 30.00. I have had birds shipped to me via West Jet and I have shipped them out on more then one occasion . I didn't mind being charged the 30.00 for the carrier by the shipper because I know that as soon as I ship more chicks out I will be able to pass that charge onto the people buying from me and be able to recoup my investment in that carrier. Good luck.
