found a glass one in an old shed and was curious when they stopped making them Question

Hmm, I’ve never owned (or even seen) anything but plastic myself.

Seems to me that I had some when I was a kid that were designed to fit onto mason jars.

But they might have been from when my father raised birds when he was a kid.

I have a glass one that fits the red bases of the 1 gal ones. It was from a farm that no longer has chickens. Not sure how old, 80's maybe? They had plastic too. I haven't used it yet...heavy, scared to cracking it, has a chip on the lip I am worried about.

I would suggest the above reasons plus cost may have caused the evolution to plastic?
