I've got it marked on the calendar - in large print! There is always so much going on during those last few weeks before Christmas, but I really want to take part in this event. Gonna do my best to dodge those other 'obligatory' Christmas functions in order to do this poultry party of the season. It's all about me this year!! tongue

I can't wait for this show! I am really excited to be able to show some of my birds again! Although I am still quite new to exhibiting my birds i find it well worth my time to get quailified opinions about my birds. All the judges I have talked to so far have been a great help!
Plus I really enjoy getting the chance to see everyones birds and getting to talk to everyone!

What is happening each day. On Thursday Dec 8th we will be setting up the show and the bird sale area and the petting zoo and the silent auction and the commercial booths and the show office ( I am feeling an adrenalin rush now) coop in will begin at 4pm and there will be a meet and greet(food treats)that evening. Not sure at this point is our judges will be flying in on the 8th or the morning of the 9th.Silent auction will begin on the 8th. On the 9th Friday judging will begin at 12 noon sharp there will also be coop in until 11 am that morning for exhibitors that can't make Thursday evening.
On Saturday the birds will be judged again by our 2nd judge and we will have the banquet that evening all you will have to do is walk 20 feet and you will be in the banquet hall-thats so cool! On Sunday we will have coop out and complete the silent auction Of course I will update along the way with more info etc.

Flicker Chick you should just make the show a family holiday! You cando some christmas shopping at the building list of amazing heritage vendor or just win some of the awesome silent auction prizes.

Pictures may say a thousand words but memories last a life time, so come join us!

You might even find a few things that catch your eye that you need to add to your flock... I have been known to come home with a few more birds than I took Very Happy

^ That sounds like a swell plan k.r.l. and I couldn’t agree with you more. Smile But trying to convince my other half driving all the way to Red Deer in December for the ultimate poultry show isn’t likely to happen. Winter driving is not his fortay as it is.

BUT I’m not giving up yet. My mom’s hubby has some family/cousins in the Red Deer area that he's been wanting to go visit for awhile now. Just need to convince the parents this is the opportunity they've been waiting for! Wink

Liz,
OH CRAP, I almost had a kinip there. I had booked my room way back in February when the show was first announced. I had no idea that judging is starting on the 9th [Friday].

Thank goodness we have till 11am Friday to get them cooped. I won't have to changed anything.

I know this show is being promoted on other forums.
Maybe you might want to post this info about the cooping times / judging on those sites too?
Others might have thought like me and migh get caught unaware that actually judging also starts on Dec 9.

I can hardly wait. We are so looking forward to this.

Flicker, December is a perfect time to come visit relatives in the Red Deer area! So much to do and see! And if that fails, maybe you could work the 'Christmas present' angle...Gee, the very best gift I could ask for would be some company to drive with me to a very special poultry event in Red Deer.... Laughing
