I was really happy when I saw my first egg in the pen from my US Jumbo Pharoah Coturnix quail. I was even more excited when I saw it size.  I immediately went and got three eggs from 3 random pens of my regular size quail.  They have all been laying at least 6 weeks.  This is her first egg.  The larger the egg, the larger the chicks should be to start with.

My first Jumbo Pharoah egg from the US Jumbos. 20 Grams.

Question...do Quail often lay double yoked eggs to start with?

Have only ever had a few double yolk eggs from Coturnixs in 36 years of raising them. The Jumbo laid again today. Same size. Two more young Jumbo laid today. They were the size of my regular Coturnix egg, about 13-14 grams. Generally Coturnixs lay a smaller egg for their first week or two, then they get larger.
