What is it about dead of winter that gets the turkeys laying again Suspect crazy birds
are you saying that your cow is in the coop with the chickens?  well why not, at these temperatures anything goes  -  we are all chooks underneath it all anyway tongue .

I wonder if that turkeys laying again at this time of year means they want to be valuable  -  ie NOT food!  and that is why they are making themselves appreciated by laying eggs.  It is what I would do if I were a turkey.  pirat
HAHA I think if she had it her way she'd be in the house. But thankfully they have super good coats and are pretty happy with all the fresh hay they keep getting.

I was just happy that they were being nice to me and laying eggs. My hen house were getting annoyed with all of the lack of attention and were giving me the cold, no egg shoulder and now that everything is settled in and I have more time for them even at -20. The eggs are flowing again.

PS I don't mind winter. Somedays its better to be cold than shovelling but that's just somedays.

We had to move back to Winnipeg for my husbands work when my kids were small. I didn't want to leave BC but said I would go quietly as long as I could spend money on warm clothes. I don't think he had a clue what that meant at the time. I researched and bought the best, warmest clothing I could find. I was the only parent out on the ice with the kids every night.(we lived on a river) I have wonderful memories of walking in the moonlight down to the community club with all the neighbourhood kids so they could play hockey and build ice sculptures. I was never cold. My husband stayed in grumbling all the time because he refused to spend the money on really warm clothes. If you haven't already done it, do yourself a favour. There are a lot of beautiful winter clothes out there but many are just not warm enough to be comfortable in that bitter cold.
