does this mean s . . w??
Here are some pics we took that are associated with autumn from when we lived waaaaaaaay north of here in Terrace. I became an obsessive compulsive mushroom picker, the matsutake (aka Pine Mushroom) lives and grows up (it grows in lots of other places too of course but they have the lodge pole pine up there and it grows in relationship with that tree) there in late autumn and the Japanese will pay untold dollars for them. We just loved to fry em up and eat em! damn, so good!
And, my youngest sons (10 yrs old) first great catch, a 22lb coho - he was so proud, killed it and gutted it all himself. If you fish for salmon you will know they are a strong, feisty, vital salmon and definitely an autumn fish. And they don't live in NZ!
And, one redeeming feature of the grotty apartment building we lived in was the beautiful maple trees when they turned goldy.
one last one, the mighty Skeena River which runs almost right through Terrace and it really is remarkable. Gets really low in late summer/autumn but in spring time it floods like crazy, a tidal river into which whole semi's have disappeared. I took this picture on my way home from the last mushrooming forage that year, it was just stunning.
you probably wanted just pictures but in all fairness, I am so jazzed by my Canadian experience since we got here, feel like have to give back story for full honors to the beauty of BC.
