Ok, ok, technically it is not fall, but around these parts any time past the end of August is considered fall. The end of August is usually heralded with a drastic dip in temperature and very cool days.

Not this year.

The last two weeks have been in the upper 20s and there has been no rain. Today we got rain. Glorious sunshowers, or as my Alabaman neighbours say, 'the Devil is Beating his Wife.' Yes, that is what they call a sunshower down in 'Bama.

Apparently the weather is going to take a dip this week, but you can't take our lovely fall away. It has been truly amazing around here!

It's been too hot. We are out of water. Cattle are getting desperate. It rained last night - looked like a huge storm - big black clouds rolling up the valley. Big winds, spits of rain. Pelting aspen leaves. But not enough rain to create a puddle.

Cooler now but still dry.

Dry here, too. Been a few days that were too hot. Husband is worried about the pastures, if we will have to bring the cows home early. Supposed to cool down now, which will be conducive to getting stuff done. Heat slows me down.

Starting to move cows to winter pasture early. Bummer as I was hoping to save that feed for a while longer and there is lots of grazing in summer pastures yet (thanks to wet cool spring) but if there is no water... well, that's that.

Sue, guess those sunshowers missed me here. Not a drop this afternoon. It was pretty hot despite the nice breeze. Managed to get my shed moved over today. Looking forward to the drop in temps. I'm with authenticfarm. Heat slows me down too.

Amazing, TB! We had 4 heavy sun showers and you are only about half an hour north of me as the crow flies.

Sorry to hear the dryness is affecting everyone else so badly. It has been very dry here too, and the heat is unprecedented! We broke a record with 31 degrees the other day.

Yup Sue, not a drop came my way. This evening looked like it was going to rain a bit around 7 pm. Got all dark and cool but still, not a drop. Maybe tonight as it is still cloudy out and very breezy.

I'm on my 4th change of clothes tonight and have been soaking wet most of the day.  We woke up to a heavy downpour and no hydro.  There was enough water in the wheel barrows to flush the toilet as no hydro here equals no water.  Today was the day to get chickens off to be processed.  The no hydro got the gkids a day off school, but put us way behind schedule as we had 6 new crates to put together.  We did get some rain in the last couple weeks and have some pasture again.  The chicken runs and the pig pen are very wet and muddy.  The forecast looks like summer has come to an end and fall has arrived.

Second try after being kicked off.

You just had to comment about the beautiful
Weather didn't you?? I live on a sand pile, and ran out to check my new baby bunnies and the new birds from the us, and felt like I should have grabbed a canoe!! In just under 2 hours we have had a half inch of rain and it is still coming!! I was not ready for
Rain yet! I needed one more day before it hit. Sad

Yes loving the warm day time temps!  but the lack of any rain has everything dry dry dry.  This has been a season of lightning storms.  I have never in my life seen so much lightning!  We've had 5 hydro pole strikes in our area so long power outages.  Today my kids got a long weekend because they go to a school in town but power was out most of the day because of a lightning strike.  Today we finally got rain which we needed ( sure made my ducks HAPPY hehe ) but blah grey dreary day with leaves already turning colours made me wish for the sunshine and warmth during the day that has been spoiling us Smile

I'd be happy to send some of these tropical storms out to those drought areas. We get every single one getting pushed up the coast.

I don't think we went a week without rain all summer.

I took a week of to go hunting for elk, and it was way too hot. The game was hiding where it was cool, and I was sweating up a small lake. This week would have been the better one to take.
