I always make pop doors big emough I can squeeze through in a pinch!  my main door froze up last winter and I had to go through the pop door to get in and unstick it.  can still send the kids but they are getting bigger fast!

Oh my Gordon, what a picture for my mind's eye have you conjured up. Funny as ol' get out and that made me have a good morning chuckle. Thanks for letting me laugh at your folly....smiling that big smile. Good gracious, what if you got stuck, whooda pulled you out with your head in the coop, oh geeze, that was funnnneee!! Have a beautiful day, CynthiaM.

I am having coop envy also. Not to mention flat land envy. Did someone say you had a new hairdo too? Hair envy...what else can I envy?

On a serious note, I think it's great that you have been able to plan ahead and get all your ducks in a row, so to speak. Moving is stressful enough without having to scurry around trying to find some place to put the critters. Your extra work and expense now will pay off in ease and less worry later on. Good planning and fabulous coop!

I saw it in the dark last night and I have to say I am very impressed! Lets see what the daylight brings.
Unfortunately they just kinda dumped it behind the house. We will have to move it and set it up a bit so the poor chooks have to stay in the crates for a little longer. I know they will survive, but I bet I don't get eggs for a while and I may also induce a massive moult in everyone.
They are survivors and very healthy so I know they will be fine.
I will get photos before the dirty smelly chooks get in it!!! Laughing

It is on skids and designed to be able to be moved around. Will need a tractor or something though. The Dodge may be able to do it.

Yes, glad you and the critters have arrived safely. Now the real fun begins! Very Happy

When we moved here last fall, my chickens traveled in a dark, well vented calf box. They were only in the box for six hours, if that, but I guess it was long enough to induce a hard moult because everyone dropped their feathers. The hens also stopped laying for 4+ months. It got a bit embarrassing when I had to buy eggs, especially when folks knew I had chickens. Eventually they forgave me and started laying again. I don't think chickens like change much, but they do get over it. Kinda like me. lol
