I admit it. I am a HATCHAHOLIC ,! As much as I try to stop, I just love hatching chicks. It is a dangerous obsession.

My latest problem is with my Wyandottes. After many years of searching I finally found Buff Wyandottes. They are very rare in Canada. The colour is ok but they are much smaller then I like and the type could use improvement. So along comes George, my huge White Wyandotte Roo. I have finished hatching Whites for the year and George is a huge, beautiful, very Wyandotte type roo from show stock in Ontario. I plan on showing him this fall. He is also very fertile.

Now I hate taking any longer the necessary to bring about improvement. Being a hatchaholic whose incubator never shuts down (I generally hatch Button and Coturnic quails all year round) I said why not. When the Pullets started laying I put George in there. I have 36 out of 38 fertile eggs in the incubator. That us enough for my first generation. Chicks hatch from them will be mostly or all whites. However, when bred back one quarter of the chicks should be much bigger, good type Buff Wyandotte. Since I have two weeks before George is moving to a new pen for another project, I thought somebody might want to try working on their own Buffs.

Eggs are $25 a dozen, plus postage. I also have eggs available from my first generation project of making Barred Wyandottes.

Some picture of George and the girls. The Pullets are medium sized Wyandottes. Just shows how big George is.
