So I thought this was kind of funny so I wanted to share:
Chantecler_eh? is off to college living in a dorm and cooking in the communal kitchen. He told me last week that he made his first shopping trip and stocked up on some staples
which included a 10kg bag of flour and 10 kg bag of sugar which he now has stashed in his room!
I asked if he was planning to bake bread and he didn't think so just figured those were the essentials to have. That is standard shopping in our large family but pretty funny to think of one guy on his own buying that amount of flour and sugar, still it is cheaper that way!

Vermilion! Maybe you'll have to arrange to supply him with some farm fresh eggs to help his baking out! ( you can pick his brains about Chanteclers! Very Happy )

THe flour is for very doughy pancakes. The sugar is for brewing alcohol out of unwashed socks. If he buys copper tubing and a welder, expect a still. One has to finance their way through school somehow!

That could totally be arranged! Too bad he sold most of his flock, if I had known he was going to be a stone's throw away, that would have been really convenient!

Well you know Ethan did bake a plain ol' cheesecake!

What's he doing?

ohhh he could do some eclairs! All he needs is some eggs and pudding mix (for the filing)

You raised him well Miry, I see he is fitting in well and feeding his fellow housemates some, so maybe 10 kg is not too much after all. Very Happy
I just wish I had a cook like him up there when I went to school, it was pretty slim picking for me my first year of college, I am sure he is loved by many with his abilities you have taught him.

Coopslave beat me to the punch! With flour, sugar and if he gets eggs from Authentic he is most of the way to cookies! That will really make him lots of friends!

Haven't been on here in awhile and now you're all talking about me lol. Authenticfarm if you or anyone you know has extra eggs for sale I would definitely be interested. The only farm eggs I found for sale were at 5 bucks a dozen which is a little steep considering back home we only charged about 3 bucks a dozen.

You bet, I can hook you up occasionally! Mine are $3/dozen as well. I am in Vermilion every week or two, hopefully our schedules will align occasionally.

Awesome, sounds great. Every two weeks would be fine for me. Schedule isn't too busy so I don't think there would be a problem with meeting up in town. Really appreciate it. Thank you.

Ah, the bird leaves the nest. This must be a wonderful time for you, as you think of the possibilities of your child, now grown and left home. It must also be a time of sorrow. I don't care what anyone thinks, anytime that a child leaves home, for things to see and things to do, it is a time of some sadness, in many ways, and at the same time, the happiness. I recall when both my Daughters came of the age where they flew the coop and fly they did. You have taught his young man the basic living of life. Sugar and flour. With those two products in hand, so many smaller things can be purchased to create food the table, the belly, to fill and comfort. Mamma food. I am kind of weepy, thinking of how these things have been instilled within his soul. Mamma teachings. The importance of Mothers in this world is beyond understanding. To me this shows what he has learned from none other than you, and fills me with happy feelings. Still kind of weepy eyes, kind of hard to see what I am typing, but I will get through it. Congratulations to you Mother, teaching your child, even though he and you both don't fully realize it, such a simple thing as a staple or two that will feed, and congratulations to the young man for clearly paying attention to what he needs to make that belly full. And congratulations to you, Chantecler_eh?, for clearly pursing a dream in the school of vocation. And with that, have a most beautiful day to both you two and to us all, CynthiaM.
