The lot decided it was more interesting to come and watch me milk than go about their own business. Funny guys

I am thinking of signing my Toulouse up on this site so they can all tell you what to do.

Sounds like I should get my kid some Toulouse. She's a bossy little twit, it would be good for her to get it back. Lol

A gaggle of geese will smarten up the sassiest mammal. I have a young Pyr who would 'play' with the ducks and chickens until he killed them. The day he decided to play with a goose was the end of this behaviour. I had to rescue him. There were 5 geese. They had him cornered against a fence. He was cowering and crying and they were taking turns plucking chunks of fur off him, shrieking in their high pitched goosey voices. I let them continue a bit to drive the lesson home and then scared them off. He hasn't gone after a bird since.

Yeah, the geese here pretty much own the yard.

When I was a kid, I was the mammal they came after. It was early spring, and we had to collect the goose eggs before they froze. I forgot to collect the eggs before getting dressed for sunday school, and went into the pen with my dress on...they didn't like that, and I had 8 grown geese on-top of me like flies to poo. By the time they were done, I was covered in poo, and beaten and bloodied. I finally escaped by grabbing two at a time by the neck as they came in to attack, and banging their bodies together. When enough of them were finally stunned, I was finally able to escape. We never did make it to Sunday school, and I got in trouble for ruining my dress. Sad I'm still undecided if I will have geese on my farm.

Choose your geese wisely, IslandGal. Some breeds are more aggressive than others. I find the production Toulouse to be moderately aggressive. They threaten but rarely contact. More aggressive breeds I would not have.

I only had emdens before and they were really quite aggressive. I have found the toulouse social and interested in what you are doing, follow you around, but haven't ever had a nip.

I guess we should be glad the Toulouse gang isn't on this forum. I think they'd be quite taken aback to learn that you didn't think they're being helpful. From the look of them, I'd say they were supervising quite seriously and would be sorry to hear you don't agree, Cathy. Laughing

When I let mine out of their dog run every morning they all scream "good morning" to me and won't let me alone until I have said "good morning" to everyone of them. Truly. Then they go off to eat the deepest greenest grass for an hour before resuming their supervisory duties. In the heat of the day they go and sit under the eaves of the barn with the big bull. It all looks very companionable although I notice they don't give the bull advice!

They tell me EVERY DAY what to do.. and how to do it.

They have started to peck at the feed room door if I don't get food out fast enough inthe morning.

I kind of miss my geese but hubby sure doesn't.
I sent him out to the barn to fix something and
a few minutes later looked out the window to
see the African gander hanging of hubby's
rear end and hubby do a funny dance.
I had to go resue him.
After several more attacts it was best to
sell them, but I should have just sold the
Africans and kept the Toulouse he was nice.
