I'm in the midst of a heckovabigstorm right now!! Rain is sluicing down the windows, the air is that peculiar orange of a thunder storm rainfall, and the air looks solidly full of rain! The dogs are huddled at my feet, shivering, all the chickens have run for the coop, and I don't see any other wildlife out there....except for a lone Muscovy duck out there (out standing in his field?). Even the Maremma wanted in! But the duck? I am going to name him Captain Highliner. I can see him standing at the helm of a ship in storm-tossed seas, rain-lashed and stoic, chin (beak?) jutting out defiantly: Give me what you've got!!

If I was not so occupied with keeping the dogs calm I would have done more than glance out the window. It really was picture-worthy. Smile

Post-Storm.  My place does not hold water for long so the ducks took advantage.  Happy ducks!

What a gorgeous picture, FarmChiq! At first the puddle looked like a flame! Flame eating ducks! You ARE special!

They find a puddle and are the happiest creatures! Or a sprinkler, or bucket or mud puddle...anything!

I think it is a great name.
Last night we had a heck of a storm too, over 1" in 45 mintues, just a downpour, and the whole flock of geese are out on the front driveway, heads up high and letting the rain pelt them. I couldn't get over why they wouldn't seek shelter?? Silly birds. But once the rain stopped the puddles were pure delight for them as well.

I guess to them it is just like having a shower. And they sre waterproof so they dont really get wet

I always worry if they would be ok in a bad hailstorm though.u

Yes I was worried about hail to Miry, Irvine got a lot of hail, thankfully we got a few tiny stones but nothing that stuck around, the geese hopefully would seek shelter if the hail started.

Ya, ducks will find water whenever they can get a chance, amazing creatures. Sure was a fast a pretty storm eh? Have a beautiful day, CynthiaM.
