Heda, I figured it would catch you eye.

Yesterday afternoon our Jersey had the most beautiful (unfortunately bull) calf I have seen. It is an awesome grey (dun). Aryah was there to watch the whole thing. Mom is so proud, she brought him over as soon as he was on his feet.

I cant wait to see what calves I will get out of Yosemite with my highland girls in another year or so!

I will have to take a few photos in the morning.

OMG!!! I am so in love! And we have babies here all the time, it is NOT common for me to say that. Matter of fact, last time I did say that is when I saw Yosemite! He is wonderful! Has the temperament of his mom and dad. Both are great, calm, personable cattle. Yosemite of course less so then mom, Whipcream (being a Jersey and all). I went to see mom and calf this morning. Mom is perfect. I go out and she is laying in the sun, lifts her head, nuzzles me, watches me, and gets her scratches, but doesnt even bother getting up (normal for her). The calf did the same. He watched mom closely how she interacted with me. I walk over to him and he too lays there. Lifts his head, smells my hand. I scratch him under the neck and he just stretches it out as far as hi can like his daddy. Her last calf was very flightly. This little calf (I so wish it was a heifer) is just as calm as can be. He has a nice full tummy and nursing well. I just cant get over how easy going and calm he is!

Now, for the photo:
Heda, tell me what this color really is please (LOL)

Oh my. Those calves are very close to the top of my personal list of cutest baby animals. Absolutely adorable! Just makes you want to squeeze them!
I loved those calves of Heda's in the other thread too. That pic of the group of youngsters reminded me of my scruffy looking son and his friends when they were young teens with too much hair!

He is just like his daddy! He is just so calm. I cant remember the last time I could walk up to a calf that is not bottle fed or hand raised in any way and just pet it all over, scratch it, and it doesnt even flinch! Most will at least go to the other side of mom the first time they see a person or back away. But this guy, he just didnt care. I scratched under his neck like his daddy likes and he just stretched it out and leaned into it. He is so sweet. He is beautiful, but his temperament is what has taken me so much!
