I have a couple that look like hawks, I love these pictures! I bought an EE at Murray's sale that looks like an owl, will have to get pictures.

Thanks for sharing these, Miss Higgins. I love seeing your birds.

My angry broody Eva has a pretty steely glare - and she's quick to back it up with a sharp beak if you don't take the hint, too. Very Happy

I think you should start a new trend on Facebook Kendra. Anyone seen Grumpy Cat? I think we have a contender here in Eva. Very Happy

This is part of what I LOVE about the Chants. Love the stern brow and steely glare. Faint hearted need not apply. Very Happy
Eva looks right through you, doesn't she!! Farmchiq, love the idea of 'angry chicken'!

My favorite broody-hen-momma signal is the 'prayer-tail'. As in, if you bug me, you had better pray! The tips of the tail feathers touch but the feathers spread apart. Kind of like hands in prayer!

Thought I should add some of mine.

The PChants are sooo good at this.

First the rooster:

The hen not to be outdone!

Don't worry the Coopers can hold their own too!

I think this lady is thinking of going broody. She looks a bit demon like! Very Happy Surprisingly this hen doesn't peck at all, just glares.

Love the pics Coopslave! I think that first Cooper must be related to Eva, same scary stare!

Now now...are we doing a negative PR campaign on the Chantecler breed? Hee hee. Advice for the faint I love you to not bother and then showing off not one but two pics of setty Eva to accentuate the pointy point! Eeek...

Perhaps I should get a photo of my cuddly rooster to balance the PR? lol!

Love it! Love them all.

Owl chicken, named Wise-one. I'm hoping its a roo, I would LOVE to breed for this white beard on black.

The bird I bought with him, Hawk-eye

Eagle Chicken 006_zps08635df1

This is stink-eye hen. She has a sister who is nearly identical to her, except her eyes. Same evil stare, but her sister's is more of a firey gaze. She is a blue orpington/chanty cross.

Alabaster, the roo I bought from Chantecler Eh.

Baykon, my project bird.

Eagle Chicken 011_zpsb0b7a76b

A young stinky-eyed bird, what a looong beak!

And couldn't help it... CHICKEN DANCE! *Dances like gir, from invader zim*

Maybe higgins can enlighten us a bit on whether the colour pattern is just luck, or is breedable.

I debated for almost an hour over picking him up. He has some brown in his feathering down his wings, and I figured for $10, I couldn't really go wrong.

OK Everyone,
I am going to have to get my phone out and start taking pictures. I stuck my hand into a nest today and good thing I had gloves on. It was one of my last year's blue cochins, no eggs under her and she did leave the nest later as my Silkie Sue took over and still no eggs in the nest, lol. So hopefully these two will go broody as I have a few I want to hatch under birds.

Thanks Miss Higgins.

I'd like to breed up to having the black colouration with the white beard, it would take years I'm sure, But man would that be pretty.

Chicken eyes

Ya, yesterday I made a post and put in pictures and then pushed a button and lost the post. Grrrrrr....I was so annoyed I went outside and did some rototilling to cool off. So freakin’ annoying. Oh well. I will start again today, but composing in a word document and then I will cut and paste. Darn I should know better, but always think, maybe I can, maybe I can....

Ya, so have just a couple of pictures of cochin and buckeye eyes and face. I don’t very often bother to take chicken face pictures, but after seeing all these beautiful faces of our beloved friends, I think I should have that reaction and just get more chicken eye and face pictures. Thanks for the spur. Enjoy and have an awesome day, CynthiaM.

Blue cochin cockerel (oh geeeze, just previewed, why is this picture SO DARN HUGE? The others are not, it almost makes me dizzy to look at it!)
