I had a look on your site Tara and the sites you gave me and found lots of info. my Campbells give a med egg and i could not believe how big the hook bill eggs were, since the birds are almost the same size. The egg pictures you posted show size well and cool colors. Was also glad to find that we feed pretty much the same food as you and the dutch hook bill is hardy (we are a bit colder at times but use heat lamps). Hook bills are on my reeeaaaalllly neeed list now. thanks barb

Thanks Higgins for all of this information. You can disregard my long-winded email and all the questions I asked of you about them.

Have a great day!

Bring it on sister. When you're ready. Didn't mean to discourage you, just didn't want you having to repeat yourself for me personally.

When you're ready, I'm here - mowing lawns and cleaning a coop today, along with some weeding.

Hello there
we just picked up our duckling order from holderreads last week and the hookbills are soooo cute!!! we are still trying to sort out what colours we got but what a great assortment. can't say enough about Holderreads and the quality of the ducklings. we probably got more than we can possibly keep so i'll keep you in mind if we have some available after we grow them out a bit and decide who can stay. would love to see some go up north.
did i mention how cute they are?
Dwane

So uh, not duck related but don't waste time on barley straw as an aglea deterant, cause it don't work much if at all. Rick tried it some years back.

Whatever seems to eat algae in a pond (waterfowl or fish), seems to poop enough back that the green keeps on growing and going along happily. Sigh.

Good thing tho, a green watered pond is a healthy very alive one. Hee hee...

Tara

Just read this now Hig. We've actually drained the dang thing and are starting over with a proper sized pump for aeration and plants - water lilies and water hyacinths. Thanks.

Sorry for the high jack folks.

Hello
it sounds like holderreads has quite a few colours now. so far i think what we have is dusky, bibbed dusky, white with pink bill, brown, brown bibbed, grey, and a golden grey type i'm not sure about yet. they are doing great and we're enjoying them very much. really look forward to watching them grow.
