Way to cool, I have seen so many things built with used pallets, my neighbor at the lake build a deck with them I laughed when I saw him start, well the laugh was on me, he has a huge deck looks great and cost him only time and collecting pallets, mine cost me thousands.

I have built a lot of stuff with pallets. I used to be able to get mahogany pallets, used some of the mahogany for accent strips in my floor. I have also used oak out of pallets. I have some 4x4 red oak that came from pallets that I haven't figured out the right use for yet. They are harder to come buy, and the quality of wood is not what it used to be. The only thing to watch for when you are using them structurally like that is knot placement. It is wise to reinforce using at least a full length 2x4 when putting two pallets together like he did. Depending on snow load, he doesn't have an effective way to carry the weight down from his roof and may find his coop collapsing in a winter like this. He did an excellent job, it looks really good.

I agree with bckev there is a lot of very nice wood in some pallets and can be used for many thing off the pallet subject in an estate I was doing last year I found 12 6 X 10 20 feet long rough planks OAK and I am still trying to figure out what to do with them, was thinking a board walk at the cottage.
