Silkies and Light Sussex hens make great broodies, also.

I've got a couple of bantam Rhode Island Red pullets that are broody right now. Too bad they are a little far away.

Are you choosing bantam breeds only? There are a good many breeds that are known to be very interested in brooding babies, smiling. Cochins and buff orpington too are other ones that love it. Got a few orpingtons that thinking this way these past few days. Is this for anticipated broodiness? How many eggs do you want to be covered by the hen, that too will govern if you want to go bantam or large fowl. Gotta love the broodies!! I have heard of so many other breeds that just love to go broody. Uno's partridge chanteclers that she got from Coopslave. They were so broody when a big cat got in and devastated stuff at her place, just continued to sit and watch it all, didn't move an inch. Lots of breeds. Good luck, hope you find what you are looking for. Have a wonderful day, CynthiaM.

The larger hens do hatch more babies at a time. Just saying...
